New Year Greetings from Nishizaki chairman
No.674 2021年1月
We would like to wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year. Also, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for your kind support during the past year.
Nishizaki Chairman
COVID-19 spread all over the world from the beginning of last year, causing great damage to economic activities and living environment, and there is still no prospect of ending. It is new to memory that a state of emergency was declared in April last year in Japan, and everyone was forced to refrain and patience. We would like to express our deepest sympathies to the fact that many people fell the victim to COVID-19, not only in Japan but also in various countries and regions around the world, and greatest appreciation to all the medical professionals who continue to support our safety and life in such a situation.
The impact of COVID-19 on the HAVCR industry is also extremely large. In the last year, "HVAC & R JAPAN 2020" scheduled in March has been cancelled. Also, other various events and conferences related to HVACR industry have been canceled, postponed or held in remote bases. It has been a very restricted year for JARIA, which we have never experienced in the past.
On the other hand, we recognize that HVACR products are indispensable items for people to lead a rich and cultural life. Furthermore, it is expected to provide effective means for infectious disease control such as ventilation and sterilization. JARIA intends to contribute to various measures with a view to coexistence with COVID-19, keeping in mind that we will continue to take responsibility for solving the issues given to the industry sincerely.
We also consider "appropriate response to global environmental problems" as the most important issue for the industry and will promote for the solution. It is expected that the supply of CFC substitute refrigerants to the market will decrease in relation to legal regulations. As new refrigerants to replace them, we will continue to carry out risk assessments for slightly flammable refrigerants and natural refrigerants that are being researched and developed.
We also check energy-saving performance, reliability, safety, etc., and establish standard guidelines.
Regarding the revised CFC Emission Control Law, we will establish standards and comply with various laws and regulations in response to the addition of designated products, in cooperation with the Working Group on measures to deal with Fluorocarbons, Industrial Structure Council, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. At the same time, from the perspective of reducing CO2 emissions, there is a strong demand for improving the energy efficiency of various products. We will work on technological development and risk assessment toward the high goal of "2050 carbon-neutral" set by Japanese government.
These issues are also common issues around the world. Japan’s ability for refrigerant development and evaluation methods are attracting worldwide attention. By appealing to the global society through the outcome of these efforts, JARIA will strive to improve the presence of the Japanese HVACR industry, and further develop the industry as a whole.
Although the situation of responding to COVID-19 is still severe, the good news that vaccine development is proceeding smoothly has been fortunately heard, in this year. Once again, we would like to extend our greetings to the New Year in the hope of the great success and good health of the industry and everyone.
