The 3rd ASEAN5+J workshop was held by online on 12th November. This workshop is a meeting to exchange information on energy saving and regulation on refrigerants, etc. among Industry associations (Academia for Vietnam only) of five ASEAN countries (Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Philippines) and JRAIA. This is the 3rd workshop after Kobe in 2018 and Bangkok in 2019, and was held as a closed meeting by online for the first time co-hosted by MACRA and JRAIA. About 75 pre-registered members in the region were participated.

After welcome and opening speech from Mr. Peter Tan, president of MACRA and Mr. Hideaki Kasahara, general manager of JRAIA, current situation about energy saving, Kigali amendment, COVID-19, etc. of each country were reported in order by Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand. Because this is the first time to participate the workshop as an observer from industry association for PAIA of Philippines, there was no report from Philippines.

After reports from each country, free discussion was conducted with chaired by Mr. Koji Hatano of JRAIA on proposals for the next workshop and promotion to participate in JRAIA‘s International Symposium on New Refrigerants and Environmental Technology, and there was lively discussion. Finally, the next workshop was agreed to be held in September 2022 hosted by GABEL (Indonesia) at the timing of R&HVAC Expo in Jakarta, and the workshop was closed successfully with closing speech from Mr. Tan.
