July 2023 UNEP OEWG45 (in Bangkok, Thailand)
JRAIA's Side Event at OEWG45 18:00-20:00 MONDAY 3rd July, 2023
Title
Japan’s Fluorocarbons Policy and Industry’s Actions toward Carbon Neutrality by 2050
Abstract:As Japan is moving toward Carbon Neutrality including HFCs emission sector by 2050, action and cooperation among stakeholders are the key for the achievement. In this side event, METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) and MOE (Ministry of the Environment) of the Government of Japan provided the update on its Fluorocarbons control policy and latest activities on Initiative on Fluorocarbons Life Cycle Management (IFL). JRAIA (The Japan Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry Association) explained latest efforts and challenges industry face to achieve Japan’s target for CN2050 as well as advantages of the direct expansion system and use of ultra-low GWP refrigerants. In addition, HPTCJ (Heat Pump & Thermal Storage Technology Center of Japan) presented the role of heat pumps to achieve carbon neutrality.
